HIDAT training was started by me some 4 years ago in response to a perceived need to provide a service to trainees that focused on their individual needs, in a relaxed and caring environment, without recourse to harassment or verbal abuse.Steve Hurrell

About H-train.

H-train was established in 2002 by Steve Hurrell who has over 30 years experience as an instructor, DSA examiner and professional trainer. The H-train philosophy is to deliver the highest standards of Driver Training tailored to the individual.

Our Philosophy.

The H-train philosophy is that all courses should be enjoyable: without enjoyment, in a stressful environment, there can be no learning. Our instructors are calm, focused and above all responsive to the needs of the trainees. When concepts are not understood immediately, time and patience are employed to help the trainee make the necessary progress - towards passing the driving test and towards becoming the best driver they can be. Trainees come to H-train to learn and to add to their skills base: this can only be achieved in an atmosphere of mutual trust and respect.

Clientele.

currently H-train provides driver training to ...

  • MOD Fire and Rescue Service
  • Learn Direct Scotland
  • ELCAS approved training provider for H.M. Forces
  • Grampian Fire and Rescue Service
  • A wide raft of transport companies in the Grampian region
  • Steve Hurrelll is also the technical advisor to operation Florian that provides training and technical input to the fire and rescue service in the former Yugoslavia.

Testimonial

I am the founder and president of the Fire and Rescue Service Charity 'Operation Florian' where I first came into professional contact with Steve Hurrell and a Divisional Commander (Operations) in the MOD Fire Service.......Firstly he volunteered to deploy as part of the UK Fire Service Charities Operation Florian team to assist in the delivery of aid and equipment to the Mostar Fire Service as part of an initiative by UK Govt Global Conflict Prevention Pool (Cabinet Office). This project was aimed at unifying the divided city of Mostar by unifying its emergency services which have been ethnically divided since the civil war in the former Yugoslavia, and the training of demobilised soldiers as fire and rescue workers. Steve's role was as part of the team delivering training, namely he was a driving assessor/instructor preparing candidates to undertake EFAD training delivered by Officers from GMC and Lancs. Fire and Rescue Services. This is a very responsible role given that the candidates would be driving donated UK fire Vehicles in Bosnia and Steve had to devise a strategy to deliver this training in unusual conditions with the UK and local fire service teams. Steve's success and personal dedication in this project were outstanding and he has made a real impact on the charity's ability to deliver this type of aid worldwide and is now Operation Florians technical advisor in this area of aid delivery.
